Easter Eggs in a Birdhouse Box ( Catalogue CASE)

I'm so thrilled with how these little guys turned out!!! As you may have noticed from recent posts I am on a bit of a roll with 2-4-6-8 boxes. They are so easy and quick to make - mostly!! This one is a little more detailed but very worth the trouble.
One of the ladies at my Easter class wanted to order the set on page 87 of the catalogue and when we looked at it I was inspired by the cute little birdhouse at the bottom of the page. This is a CASE of that picture, with a few of my own touches.
For the timber of the house I used the fabulous new Hardwood (130322)  large stamp and used Early Espresso on crumb cake The base cardstock is 21 cm x 14.7. - I love it when I can get 2 projects neatly from one sheet of A4., scored in the usual way
The roof is Early Espresso C'oredinations embossed using the new Arrows EF (132187) and sanded-  (looks like roof tiles don't you think?) 2" strip x 51/2 ". For my other boxes I used the scalloped tag topper punch for the closure but this one called for the Angled Tag Topper Punch which works well for the roof.

I used Island Indigo, Gumball Green and a Crumb Cake scrap with the Bird Builder Punch for the birdie. The feather texture on the bird was achieved using the coral image from the "By the Tide " stamp set, and I was really happy with how that turned out, and touched it up with some sponging on the lower edges of the bird body.
I must admit I had to play around with the roof construction and my first attempt was a bit clumsy,( not sure if the photo shows it- the one on the right) so I opened out a real milk carton for the correct folds to achieve the pitched roof on the second one. You need to score a triangle on alternate sides for the fold to sit properly as per the photo. This sits very nicely. The only dilemma is that once the eggs are in the nest you have to glue the roof on - so the only way to get the eggs out is to destroy the box. On the up side at least those eggs won't get consumed before Easter!!!!
A few twigs and twine and tags and they are finished.

Thanks for looking, hope you are inspired to try it too,
Cheers Liz

Envelope Dies perfect for an Acetate Tent card and some new DSP

After creating yesterday's cards I was on a roll and created this one using the beautiful Gilded Autumn DSP and the Fancy Phrases stamp set.  I really love the sentiments in this set.  It is such a simple design and easy to create. You can find all the directions on yesterday's post for Just Add Ink (JAI#518)  I watercoloured the white leaf after I had adhered the gold veins just to soften it, and I added a strip of mint DSP to the front of one of the tent stands as the white was a bit stark. That's the cool thing about this design, you can change it up plenty of ways. I'm sure we can all send these type of cards at the moment. I hope you are safe and well, and staying connected, wherever you are. I hope you have a creative week and remember,  "don't just post online,  post something pretty!" cheers, Liz Product List Ornamental Envelopes Bundle [ 155168 ] $83.50 Envelopes  Dies [ 153531 ] $63.00 Shimmery White A4 Car
