CTC#88 A Sneak Peak Thoughtful Branches Everyday!

Welcome to the CASEing the Catty Sunday night bloghop where we use a section of the Catalogue to inspire this weeks projects. Designers can take a layout, a colour combination, or any element as the starting point to create something new. We invite you to tour around the hop and to join in -after all the Catalogue has so many beautiful samples to inspire us all. If you get lost you'll find the full crew here. You may have arrived here from Monique, so welcome!

This week we are again using the samples from the Everyday Occasions section (which is a huge section) from pages 66-91.  But that's ok because there are so many samples to draw from.

I have drawn on the sample on page 78- the large embossed pineapple - not sure why but pineapples are everywhere this year!!
Anyway, I liked the look of the full background panel of DSP on coordinating coloured card and the large image over the top. Having just opened some new goodies - new Fruit Stand DSP and the special Thoughtful Branches which will be available next month only I decided to have a play. I wasn't 100% sure if I would like the Thoughtful Branches as it is very similar to the Sheltering Tree set, and has elements of the Sprinkles of Like bundle, but I am a self confessed sucker for a tree so I went ahead and bought it. ..... Let me say after one play session  I LOVE IT!!

I first watercoloured some indigo and peach onto watercolour paper, then cut out tree leaves with that gorgeous thinlit. It was easy to stamp the leaves onto the cut piece, and I used a stampamjig so I could get exactly the same placement because I stamped Peekaboo Peach first and then Versamark directly over the peach and heat embossed with clear powder. The leaves are gorgeous and glossy and you can see it in the close up. The Trunk was cut from Soft Suede, and it is a magnificent diecut piece which I am keen to play with next!! The fabulous new foam adhesive strips were perfect for adhering the leaves. Because they are so narrow it was easy to snip small pieces and apply randomly to the larger patches of leaves. I think it is an advantage because it raises them up a little higher than dimensionals so you get more of a glimpse of the trunk peeking underneath.
The font for the sentiments is really nice. I glued the ribbon folded in half because it was just a bit too wide, and then I decorated the inside of the card and the envelope flap with coordination DSP.

I decided to do a stepped up version also - just because I was having so much fun playing! So this one has an added navy mat, and the cute little bird. One of the nice things with this set is that there are 2 bird thinlets and they face opposite directions which is so nice and not something you find in many sets. I used some navy washi Floral Boutique (also one of my new toys this week) to finish off the envelope and the inside.

For this version I tried stamping and embossing the leaves first, cutting them out then sponging on the layers of colour - and I think it was certainly easier to cut first then stamp.

So I hope you will consider the Thoughtful Branches set - it has great possibilities for Christmas too I think and I hope to play more soon.

Next on the hop is Julia , she is always so creative, I wonder what she has made for us this week.

Don't forget we love to see what you create too, and we hold a monthly challenge where you can share with us too.So go ahead and link up with us.

Thanks so much for looking,

Liz

Envelope Dies perfect for an Acetate Tent card and some new DSP

After creating yesterday's cards I was on a roll and created this one using the beautiful Gilded Autumn DSP and the Fancy Phrases stamp set.  I really love the sentiments in this set.  It is such a simple design and easy to create. You can find all the directions on yesterday's post for Just Add Ink (JAI#518)  I watercoloured the white leaf after I had adhered the gold veins just to soften it, and I added a strip of mint DSP to the front of one of the tent stands as the white was a bit stark. That's the cool thing about this design, you can change it up plenty of ways. I'm sure we can all send these type of cards at the moment. I hope you are safe and well, and staying connected, wherever you are. I hope you have a creative week and remember,  "don't just post online,  post something pretty!" cheers, Liz Product List Ornamental Envelopes Bundle [ 155168 ] $83.50 Envelopes  Dies [ 153531 ] $63.00 Shimmery White A4 Car

#Onstage Sydney 2022 Fancy Flora Suite , Display Stamping # 1 beginner, casual, avid samples

I'm so honoured to have been asked to present the premier suite "Fancy Flora" from the new Mini Catalogue - what a treat. ( Available January 5 - May 12023 ). This is one of a series of posts showing some of the projects I created using this suite. It's a long one so grab a cuppa and enjoy my tips and tricks and first projects. Relieved the presentation is over and with my samples on the board! Firstly I had the pleasure of showing the suite- 2 stampsets, 2 sets of dies, some 6x6 DSP, Shimmer Card, Ribbon and Gems. With every new set I allow myself plenty of time to just play with it and explore the possibilities in colour and layout. In doing this I create a series of Mood boards that make it much faster when I come to use the product to quickly identify how many dies in each set, how many stamps and which ones match the dies, and which ribbons and bling I have in my stash- or in the current catalogues that match the colours of the new suite. That way I don't for
